The concert, produced by Intravenal Sound Operations and Red Bull Music Academy, was composed exclusively of what Galás calls "death songs." Sung in Italian, German, French, and Greek, the performances include Galás' dramatic settings of the death poems by Cesare Pavese and Ferdinand Freiligrath, as well as interpretations of songs by Jacques Brel ("Fernand", "Amsterdam") and Albert Ayler ("Angels," sung by Galás, who has always believed that Ayler's work is also vocal music). www.normanrecords.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ISO 004 LP DIAMANDA GALAS : DE-FORMATION-PIANO VARATIONS LP 04.2021 ISO 004 DIAMANDA GALAS : DE-FORMATION-PIANO VARATIONS CD 04.2021 1. De-formation: Piano Variations 21:20 Works for solo piano from the frankly terrifying Diamanda Galas. 'De-formation: Piano Variations' seems to contain one twenty-minute-plus track which is inspired by a Georg Heym poem regarding experimental treatments given to maimed soldiers in the First World War. Initially 'De-formation: Piano Variations' was written to be the backing for one of her distinctive vocal pieces, but Galas decided to let this thing stay instrumental. The result is a stormy record of dense keyboard experiments. https://www.normanrecords.com/records/183326 =======================================================================================
